The Helle Spire embodies all the classic features of a full-size knife in a small package. Spire means "to Sprout" in Norwegian. The colored dark brown birch handle is made to fit a four finger grip for smaller hands. The handle also features a nice guard to protect fingers of new carvers and whittlers.
The blade is balanced excellent for the size of the knife and easily controlled. The tip of this blade has been dulled for safety but the blade is razor sharp and easy to maintain.
The Natural leather sheath has a notch that leaves the handle visible and the guard fits right into its place. There is also a snap on button at the top. The sheath can be attached to a belt through a loop. The leather is embossed with a symbolic sprout growing from its spine.

I purchased the fire kit a few weeks ago to throw in my backpack and have been really impressed. The ferro rod and striker work amazingly well, it throws sparks far better than my store-bought Coghlan’s Magnesium Fire Starter. The included wick and bellows are a great touch. once you fluff the fibers a bit it lights up easily and maintains a flame . i will supplement some of my own tinder to store in tin for later as the "tipi" is only single use
